Font Romeu – Jan 2006

Unfortunately, I got a bit cocky this time and whilst straight lining one of the easier runs at very high speed I must have lost control and crashed out fairly spectacularly. Suffice to say that I completely lost my short term memory for a good few hours, was rushed to hospital in an ambulance, x-ray’d and diagnosed with severe concussion. Of coarse I (stupidly) discharged myself from Perpignan Hospital and went straight back on the slopes the next day. By the end of the day I was blasting down the same run to shouts of ‘SLOW DOWN’ from my homies on the lifts. Madness. It was only when I returned to work a few days later and felt dizzy and sick that I thought I ought to get checked by a UK doctor and was told to go to bed for a week of sleeping off my bruised brain! My left eye is almost functioning normally now and the only other problems are mild headaches which should pass, and the fact that I can no longer feel the top of my left foot!? I guess the moral is: ALWAYS WEAR A HELMET. I didn’t even have a bump on my head but guess I came very close to serious brain damage. I’m ordering a decent helmet before my next trip. Definitely.

Anyway, it was still great. I achieved huge speeds and christened my excellent K2 Push board. I can’t wait to go again, with a helmet.

There will be more photo’s soon. As soon as I have time to sort it out.
